Magnified Musings on the Light

Posted on Oct 31st, 2007 by Ferrari : Holistic Biologist Ferrari
The other day my younger daughter found a magnifying glass on the playground. She was excited, and we played around looking at different things. Viewed one way, the lens separates light rays so that objects appear larger on our retina. On the other hand, light passing through the lens can be concentrated down to one point...the yin and yang of light. I showed her how that concentrated light could burn a hole in a leaf, and I got it....light is fire, fire is light. Seems obvious, put I had never really understood it at a simple level. That is how I have been experiencing truth lately, not in my head so much but at a deeper soul level - knowing something is true without having to prove it or rationalize it to others.
So when we burn wood, coal, or other material, we are really liberating the light that has been stored there. It makes sense if everything is light energy. I was also amazed and grateful that the amount of light falling on us, coming into us, is always just what we need. I considered how just a small circle, the magnifying lens of about 3 inches in diameter, could concentrate the light to the point where it became fire (i.e. burnt the leaf). And yet in full sun, so much more light than that is hitting us, but it is spread out in a diffuse way so as to be safe and healthy (i.e. vitamin D production).
May the light warm you and bring you truth.
